Hi, my name is Jamie (@beautybyharper), and this was my first humanitarian mission to Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa, and my 23rd humanitarian trip overall. I traveled to the island last week, serving remote and underserved regions including Lottery, St. Elizabeth, and surrounding mountain communities, where infrastructure had been severely damaged and electricity was unreliable or nonexistent. Hurricane Melissa struck on October 28, 2025, and even now, many of the areas we visited had seen very few, if any, visitors since the storm, making our mission especially critical.
During this trip, we delivered solar lights to families, health centers, and schools that had lost nearly everything, restoring a sense of safety and dignity through dependable light. Haven Solar Lights proved to be the Bentley of solar lights, powerful, durable, and built for real world conditions. In the field, these lights were not a luxury; they were essential. When volunteering your time and often your own resources, partnering with companies that truly show up makes all the difference. I am deeply grateful to John, Seungah, and the entire HAVEN Solar Lights team for their support on this trip.
As I prepare to return to Jamaica in two weeks for a follow-up mission, I hope to continue this partnership to bring much-needed solar lighting, safety, and stability to the people of Jamaica who need it most.
